Awareness program organized on World Anti-human Trafficking Day in Siliguri

Bagdogra, 30th July: Darjeeling Mary Ward Social Centre, a voluntary organization came forward to observe World Anti-human Trafficking Day with an aim to prevent trafficking of women and children and to raise awareness among the general public. The day was observed in Bagdogra as well as in Naxalbari. On Sunday, the members of the organization raised awareness through dramas and plays.


The Organization’s Coordinator Kaushik Roy Chowdhury stated that human trafficking takes place in various areas. The awareness camp has been organised for its prevention. The Coordinator alarmed that the number of traffickers have increased since the advent and wide-spread use of mobile phones. Furthermore, while stressing on the importance of awareness among the common citizens, he urged for a collective effort in this regard.
