Cooch Behar, 01st January: Tensions erupted at the maternity ward of Cooch Behar’s MJN Medical College and Hospital over the death of a mother.
Reportedly, Khatija Bibi, wife of Ashraful Haque and a resident of Sutkabari, was admitted to the maternity ward of MJN Medical College and Hospital on December 27. She gave birth to a daughter the next day. Unfortunately, Khatija Bibi lost her life this morning. Following this, the deceased’s family members accused the hospital of negligence in treatment and allegedly vandalized the hospital.
Meanwhile, the Kotwali police rushed to the spot after receiving the news of the incident. The situation came under control with the intervention of the police. Meanwhile, Parthapratim Roy, chairman of the Patient Welfare Association of Cooch Behar MJN Medical College and Hospital, visited the maternity ward to inspect all the issues.
