ATM robbers’ gang busted in Siliguri, 5 arrested

Siliguri, 13th July: Siliguri Metropolitan Police busted ATM robbers gang. With the arrest of five accused, the cops have cracked several ATM robberies in the city.


As per the report, on Saturday night, the undercover police officers of the NJP police station launched an operation near Gajoldoba Teesta Barrage and nabbed the thieves. The police also recovered several sharp weapons and cannabis from their possession. The police also seized a Bolero vehicle, probably used in criminal activities.

The arrested have been identified as Gautam Mali, Rajen Sarkar, Khokan Adhikari, Subrata Deb and Bhajan Das. After interrogation, it was revealed that the gang was involved in various ATM robberies in Siliguri.


According to police sources, the Siliguri Metropolitan Police were on alert after one incident of ATM robbery in Siliguri. After this, patrolling was being conducted in the area on behalf of each police station every night. Eventually, the police successfully cracked the ATM robbery episode.

DCP Nima Norbu Bhutia, on Monday, through a press conference at the NJP police station, stated that all the above crooks were involved in the robbery ATMs in the city. The items recovered from the arrested depicted that the men were involved in a major crime. After interrogating the accused thoroughly, the truth finally came out and the police took them under custody.
