ASHA workers block road in Kharibari demanding salary hike

Kharibari, 13th February: On Tuesday, in alignment with the protest across the state by the Paschim Banga Asha Karmi Union, the ASHA workers protested in Kharibari by blocking the Kharibari-Siliguri state road, demanding a hike in salary. Later, after being requested by the police, the protestors removed the roadblock.


Reportedly, during the protest, the ASHA workers alleged that about 50 workers had been arrested while protesting in Kolkata. They further stated that the detained workers should be released immediately and honourably.

In this regard, the Union’s Kharibari Block President Namita Sutradhar stated that the protest for salary increase commenced on this day and would further continue following the Union’s instructions.
