Army recruitment racket busted, two arrested in Sukna

Siliguri,2nd March: The Sukna Army Intelligence Department team has arrested two people on charges of duping youths with fake recruitment in the Army. The two accused identified as Prabhat Gurung and Muhammad Farooq are residents of Darjeeling.


According to army sources, over the years, the two accused have collected lakhs of rupees by duping many youths on the pretext of getting them recruited in the Army. An investigation was immediately initiated as soon as the Army Intelligence Department became aware of the racket. During the search, the team received news regarding the duo who was to reach Sukna Army Camp on February 27.

As soon as Prabhat Gurung and Muhammad Farooq entered the Sukna Army Camp, the team of the Army Intelligence Department nabbed them. After interrogation, both the accused confessed to their crimes.


Numerous mobile phones, ATM cards, credit cards, and fake army certificates have been recovered from their possession. The Sukna Army Intelligence has launched several operations to crack down the racket from its roots. Both the accused are under the Sukna police’s remand.
