Rajganj, 20th August: A large stone was allegedly hurled at a moving North Bengal State Transport Corporation (NBSTC) bus near Talma Hat in Rajganj, shattering the rear glass and triggering panic among passengers. A major accident was reportedly narrowly avoided.
According to information, the bus was travelling from Jalpaiguri to Darjeeling with around 32 passengers on board. Just before Talma, near a bridge under Rajganj Police Station, an unidentified person allegedly hurled a large stone at the rear of the moving bus.
The impact shattered the rear glass completely, causing panic inside the bus. Small pieces of broken glass reportedly hit a few passengers, but no one sustained serious injuries. However, the bus suffered considerable damage.
Bus conductor Suman Chanda said the rear glass was completely shattered in the incident. Following the incident, the bus was taken to Rajganj Police Station, where a report was submitted, he said.
The reason behind the stone-pelting remains unclear. Rajganj Police are investigating who hurled the stone at the moving bus and why.
