Siliguri, 15th October: The areas under Siliguri Municipal Corporation are likely to expand. During a discussion on Saturday, it was hinted that some areas of the Dabgram-Fulbari assembly have the chance of being included in the SMC. It is to be noted, the demand for the same has been going on for a long time.
Today in the “Mayor ke Bolo” program, two residents asked Mayor Goutam Deb if the areas of Dabgram-Fulbari assembly will likely be added under SMC. After this, the Mayor said that in the future the areas from Matigara Uttorayan and some areas of Dabgram Fulbari will likely be included in SMC. For this, a survey will also be conducted by the SMC after Kali Puja, and areas to include will be discussed and surveyed.
However, Mayor Goutam Deb stated that this is a high-level administrative matter of the state government and will be included in the paperwork. If any good proposal comes in the future, he added that such provisions will be made available by the SMC in the said areas.
