Fulbari, 17th July: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is arriving in Siliguri today, ahead of which preparations have intensified at Uttar Kanya for the scheduled administrative meeting. The blue and white sections of the building are being repainted yellow before his visit.
According to the schedule, Shah will reach Siliguri on Friday night after landing at Bagdogra Airport. He will then proceed to the BSF Frontier Headquarters at Kadamtala, where he will stay overnight.
On Saturday, the Union Home Minister will participate in several programmes related to border security and chair a high-level administrative meeting at Uttar Kanya.
The visit is aimed at reviewing the progress of border security measures in the interest of national security. On Saturday morning, Shah is scheduled to visit Border Out Post (BOP) No. 18 at Jumagachh area under the BSF. He will take part in a tree plantation programme, inaugurate projects and lay foundation stones there.
Later, from 2 pm, Shah will attend high-level meetings at Uttar Kanya regarding administrative and security-related matters.
Meanwhile, extensive preparations are underway at Uttar Kanya ahead of the Home Minister’s visit. Along with the repainting work, security arrangements have also been strengthened in and around the Uttar Kanya premises.
After completing his scheduled programmes, Shah is expected to leave for Kolkata on Saturday night.
