After Panchayat member was locked in his office, administration met demands of Upper Bagdogra’s Daragaon residents

Bagdogra, 20th October: The demand of the residents of Daragaon area under ​​Upper Bagdogra for facilitating drinking water has been resolved. It is to be noted that on Wednesday, the residents protested by locking the panchayat member in the Upper Bagdogra Gram Panchayat office. They alleged that, during the election campaign, the said member had promised them of supplying water but failed to do even after two months of getting elected. 


Eventually, today the residents of the Daragaon area of ​​Upper Bagdogra got supplied with drinking water 24 hours after the incident. They were happy to get water from the tankers, but people demanded a permanent solution for the supply of potable water. The work of transporting water through three water tankers started in the said area this morning. During this, the Chief Engineer of the PHE Department, officers, and members of Panchayat Samiti and Upper Bagdogra Gram Panchayat Department were present. 

In this regard, Vice-President Sanjit Mahato told that the work of water supply has started, and a permanent solution will be provided to the residents. Mahato further added that the Jal Jeevan Mission, Chief Engineer of the PHE Department, is working to deliver water to the house by 2024. The said problem arose due to the failure of water taps in the area and said that work has commenced on four new taps and assured of door-to-door water supply soon.
