Alipurduar, 08th October: On Saturday night, an adult leopard was trapped in a cage by the forest department of Tasati Tea Estate’s Ghasi Line Sramik Mahalla in Falakata block of Alipurduar.
According to reports, on Thursday evening, an 11 year old minor boy was dragged from the verandah of the house by a leopard. Subsequently, the boy was rescued and rushed to Birpara Hospital. Later, considering the critical condition, he referred to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH). However, on the way he succumbed to his injuries.
Following the horrifying incident, the demand of the locals were addressed and the forest department installed three cages in Ghasi line of Tasati Tea Estate, where in one of them the leopard got trapped. Upon receiving the news, forest department personnel arrived at the spot, rescued the leopard and took it to Jaldapara Forest Department.
