Gajoldoba, 07th October: An adult elephant carcass was found in a vacant area near the agricultural land located in the Dudhia area of Takimari in Rajganj block’s Mantadari Gram Panchayat.
Reportedly, the Baikunthapur forest is located near Gajoldoba along with other villages including Takimari, Dudhia, and Milan Pally. Locals reported that the wild elephants frequently emerge from the forest and enter the villages. On Monday morning, the locals stumbled upon the body of the elephant in the Dudhia village.
Upon receiving the information, the Batasibhita Beat personnel arrived at the spot. The entire area was surrounded as the officials could not ascertain the reason behind the death of the elephant.
In this regard, Range Officer Chiranjit Pal stated that it was difficult to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the death of the elephant. At present, the officials are waiting for the autopsy reports.
