‘Yatri Suvidha Diwas’ to be observed at Bagdogra Airport on June 15

Bagdogra, 13th June: The Airports Authority of India has announced a special initiative at Bagdogra Airport to mark 12 years of the BJP-led Central Government. As part of the programme, ‘Yatri Suvidha Diwas’ will be observed at the airport on June 15.

The announcement was made by Bagdogra Airport Director Naveed Nazim during a press conference on Saturday. He said Bagdogra Airport plays a crucial role in connecting North Bengal and the northeastern states and holds strategic importance due to its location in the Chicken’s Neck corridor.

Highlighting the airport’s growth, Nazim said the number of flight services has increased significantly over the years. While around 400 flights operated from the airport in 2014, the number has now risen to approximately 860. Passenger traffic has also witnessed substantial growth during the same period.

As part of the ‘Yatri Suvidha Diwas’ programme, several activities have been planned for passengers and airport personnel. These include health check-up camps, vaccination facilities, and cultural programmes featuring the National Anthem and Vande Mataram.

Free eye check-ups will also be conducted for airport taxi drivers, while sanitation workers and other employees will be felicitated in recognition of their contribution to airport operations.
