80 CFT Sal Wood seized while being smuggled in Alipurduar

Alipurduar, 12th December: The forest personnel of Kamakhyaguri range busted a wood smuggling racket. Apparently, the wood had been cut down from the Buxa Tiger Reserve forest and the smugglers were transporting it through the river.


On the basis of secret sources, forest personnel recovered the wood from Raidak Rail Bridge area after chasing down the smugglers from Kanchi Bazar area of Kumargram block. However, no arrest has been made in connection to the incident. 

In this regard, Kamakhyaguri Ranger informed that about 80 CFT of Sal wood has been seized. The market value of the recovered wood is around Rs 2 lakh 50 thousand. No one has been arrested yet. The Forest Department is investigating the entire incident.
