8 shops burnt to ashes in a major fire in Siliguri

Siliguri, 05th February: Eight shops burnt to ashes due to catastrophic fire in the Rabindranagar More area around 3 am on Tuesday. Upon receiving the news, 5 fire engines reached the spot and extinguished the fire after 4 hours of effort.
Meanwhile, MLA Shankar Malakar, Trinamool District President Ranjan Sarkar, BJP District President Prabin Agarwal, Rathindra Bose and the left front councillors inspected the spot. The State Tourism Minister Goutam Deb and Mayor Ashok Bhattacharya are out of the city, however, they assured of helping all the traders in every situation through a telephonic conversation.


Meanwhile, the opposition parties condemned the role of the Siliguri Municipal Corporation in tackling such fire incidents. In this context, the Mayor-in-council Shankar Ghosh stated that the situation is being politicized unnecessarily.
