Dooars, 10th September: 7 acres of paddy field at the Luksan Bhuttabari Basty area under Nagrakata block was severely damaged after three elephants went on a rampage, on Thursday morning.
According to sources, the elephants came out of the Diana forest and entered the said area, destroying Bishnulal Subba’s 7 acres of land.
The forest department is likely to compensate the affected families as per the government rules.
