Siliguri, 23rd July: The 65th Inter School Pre-Subrata Mukherjee Cup Football Tournament has started in Siliguri. The three-day tournament began on Thursday, July 23, and will continue till July 25.
The grand inauguration ceremony was held at Kanchenjunga Stadium on Thursday, where Padma Shri awardee and former Indian footballer Bhaichung Bhutia was present as the chief guest.
Addressing the event, Bhaichung Bhutia said, “The future of new players is shaped through such tournaments. I was also once a part of this competition, which helped me move forward.”
According to reports, top school teams from various districts of North Bengal are participating in the tournament. Three matches will be played every day at Kanchenjunga Stadium and the ground of Tarai Tarapada Adarsha Vidyalaya.
