Jalpaiguri, 02nd June: 5 houses and a mill in the Mallick Sabha village under Dhupguri block were severely damaged after a herd of elephants went on a rampage, late Monday night.
According to sources, a herd of elephants entered the said area, destroying 5 houses and a mill. The animal also destroyed crops and orchards.
The matter was then reported to the Binnaguri Wildlife Squad, who reached the spot shortly after and tried to chase the elephants back to the forest. The affected families demanded compensation in this regard.
