Fulbari, 10th December: The Special Task Force (STF) seized around 250 kg of cannabis from a goods vehicle near Jiaganj area of Fulbari before it could be trafficked to Bihar.
One person has been arrested in connection with the case. The arrested accused has been identified as Farikul Miya, a resident of Cooch Behar district.
Reportedly, acting on a tip-off, the STF conducted a raid on Wednesday along the Siliguri-Jalpaiguri National Highway near a hotel in the Jiaganj area. During the search of a suspicious goods vehicle, officers recovered a huge quantity of cannabis concealed inside a secret chamber built into the vehicle. Police sources said the cannabis was being transported from Cooch Behar to Bihar.
The accused will be produced before the Jalpaiguri district court on Thursday. Further investigation into the trafficking network is underway.
