The Patiala House court in Delhi issued death warrants to all four Nirbhaya rapists bringing an end to a long dawn judicial process. Special Additional Sessions Judge Satish Kumar Arora fixed 7 am, January 22nd as the time and date of hanging.
The judgment came after Nirbhaya’s parents had filed a plea seeking to hasten the procedure to hang all the four convicts in the case and issuance of death warrant against them.
Badrinath Singh, the father of 2012 Delhi gang-rape victim stated that he was happy with the court’s verdict. He further stated that this decision will instill fear in people who commit such crimes.
Asha Devi, the mother of 2012 Delhi gang-rape victim stated that her daughter has finally got justice. She further stated that the execution of the 4 convicts will empower the women of the country while the decision will strengthen the trust of the people in the judicial system.

The 2012 Delhi gang-rape case involved a rape and fatal assault that occurred on 16 December 2012 in Munirka, a neighborhood in South Delhi. The incident occurred when a 23-year-old female physiotherapy intern Jyoti Singh was beaten, gang-raped, and tortured in a private bus in which she was traveling with her friend, Awindra Pratap Pandey. The incident was widely condemned, both in India and abroad.
