10 voters casts vote through postal ballot in Dabgram-Fulbari assembly constituency

Siliguri, 08th April: The fifth phase of polling in Darjeeling and Jalpaiguri districts is scheduled for April 17. However, due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the Election Commission has arranged postal ballot for the elderly and the differently-abled, which was started on April 07 and will end on April 11.


Reportedly, postal ballots were carried out in booth numbers 127, 128, and 129 of the Dabgram-Fulbari assembly constituency under the Jalpaiguri district. A team of Election Commission reached the said booths located at ward No. 42 of Siliguri Municipal Corporation and visited the houses of elderly and differently-abled voters.


According to sources, from the three said booths of the Dabgram – Fulbari assembly constituency, a total of 10 voters have cast their votes from the postal Ballot, where an elderly woman in booth number 127, 7 elderlies in 128, and a man and a woman from booth number 129.

87-year-old voter Digbir Ghising said that he has voted at the polling station several times and had trouble travelling to the booth. He highly praised the initiative of the Election Commission taken for this year’s assembly polls. He was happy to cast vote in his own house.
