Siliguri, 16th June: A major breakthrough was made by the District Detective (DD) team as they arrested a youth with brown sugar and a substantial amount of cash in Siliguri’s Chandmuni area. The accused, identified as 30-year-old Bappi Singha, is a resident of the Matigara area.
According to reports, Bappi was out on a scooty to deliver brown sugar when the DD team, acting on a tip-off, launched a special operation in Chandmuni. During the operation, a scooty-riding youth was intercepted and searched. The police recovered 150 grams of brown sugar and cash worth several lakhs from a bag kept in the scooty’s trunk.
Authorities suspect that the accused had already delivered brown sugar at multiple locations and was carrying proceeds from those deals. He was caught just before making his final delivery. The scooty used in the operation has also been seized.
Bappi Singha was produced in Siliguri court on Monday, and the DD team is currently conducting a detailed investigation into the case.
