Naxalbari, 18th April: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge is set to campaign in Naxalbari on Monday in support of Congress candidates. Senior leaders Kanhaiya Kumar, Deepa Das Munshi, and Pappu Yadav are also expected to be present.
Preparations for the public meeting have begun at the ground of Nand Prasad Balika Vidyalaya in Naxalbari, where the stage is currently being set up. District leaders visited the venue to review the arrangements.
According to information, Mallikarjun Kharge will arrive by helicopter at the same ground adjacent to the school and will address the gathering from there.
From this rally, he will campaign in support of candidates from Darjeeling, Kalimpong, and Jalpaiguri districts. District president Subin Bhowmik stated that the meeting will energise party workers ahead of the elections.
Meanwhile, Congress candidate from Matigara-Naxalbari Assembly constituency, Amitava Sarkar, expressed confidence that the party will regain the seat, as it did in 2011 and 2016.
