Youth arrested in connection with bicycle theft cases in Siliguri; 12 recovered

Siliguri, 09th September: Siliguri Police have arrested a youth for allegedly stealing bicycles and recovered 12 bicycles from different parts of the city. The arrested accused has been identified as Arjun Mondal, a resident of Matigara.

According to police sources, Siliguri Police Station had been receiving repeated complaints of bicycle thefts for some time. The accused allegedly targeted bicycles belonging to students parked outside schools and private tuition centres.

Following the complaints, police launched an investigation and examined CCTV footage from different areas. Based on the footage and other leads, police traced the accused and arrested Arjun Mondal from the Jalpai More area on Tuesday.

During questioning, police reportedly obtained crucial information related to the bicycle thefts. Based on the accused’s information, 12 stolen bicycles were recovered from different locations across the city.

The accused was produced before the Siliguri court on Wednesday. Further investigation is underway.
