Bihar-bound liquor smuggling attempt foiled in Siliguri, two arrested

Siliguri, 09th September: Pradhan Nagar Police have foiled an alleged attempt to smuggle liquor from Siliguri to Bihar and arrested two persons during a late-night operation at the Siliguri Junction Bus Terminus area on Tuesday.

The arrested persons have been identified as Munna Sha and Deepak Sha. According to police, Munna Sha is a resident of East Champaran in Bihar, while Deepak Sha is from Jaigaon in Alipurduar district.

Police had received information that a large quantity of liquor was being prepared to be transported to Bihar through the Siliguri Junction Bus Terminus. Following the information, surveillance was intensified in the area.

During the late-night operation, police noticed suspicious activity and intercepted the two accused. A search led to the recovery of a large quantity of liquor from their possession, which was subsequently seized.

Police suspect that the liquor was being transported to Bihar for smuggling. A case has been registered against both accused, and further investigation is underway.

The two accused were produced before the Siliguri court on Wednesday.
