Fulbari, 11th April: Sensation gripped the area when the body of a married woman was found hanging from a noose in the Battalion quarter housing in Fulbari. The deceased has been identified as 35-year-old Pinky Roy.
According to family sources, Pinky had dinner with her 10-year-old child and went to sleep. On Friday morning, the child woke up and discovered the body of his mother hanging. Terrified, the child began screaming, which alerted neighbours and the husband, who immediately rushed to the spot. Witnessing the distressing scene, neighbours and relatives broke down in tears. As the news of the death spread, a wave of mourning swept through the entire area.
The NJP police station was informed about the incident. Upon receiving the information, police reached the spot, took the body into custody, and sent it to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for postmortem. An investigation into the incident has been initiated by NJP police.
The deceased’s father, Khagendranath Roy, a former member of Fulbari II Gram Panchayat, stated that he rushed to the spot upon hearing the news and found his daughter hanging. He expressed his inability to understand what led Pinky to take such a step.
