Rajganj, 08th October: Two separate road accidents in Fulbari and Belakoba on the same night left two people seriously injured.
The first accident took place on the Ambari-Gajoldoba Teesta Canal Road. According to reports, Satulu Roy, a resident of Putimari, Lakshmi Jote near Fulbari, was travelling towards Fulbari on a scooty when it collided with a passenger vehicle. He sustained serious injuries in the accident.
Nawapara Traffic Police and NJP Police Station personnel reached the spot after receiving the information. Satulu Roy was rescued and taken to a private hospital in Fulbari for treatment.
Another accident took place later in Belakoba. Ajit Banik, a resident of Pandapara in Jalpaiguri and a lottery seller by profession, was seriously injured after his motorcycle was hit by a goods vehicle while he was returning home from Shikarpur Hat.
According to locals, the accident occurred in front of the Babupara Mosque in Belakoba when a six-wheeler goods vehicle coming from the Majabari side turned towards Battala and hit Banik’s motorcycle. The vehicle reportedly dragged the motorcycle for some distance after the collision, causing Banik to be thrown off and sustain serious injuries.
Police from the Belakoba outpost reached the spot after receiving the information. According to police sources, the accident-involved vehicle and its driver have been detained. Ajit Banik was admitted to a hospital for treatment.
