Woman arrested with huge amount of cannabis in Siliguri

Siliguri, 06th September: Siliguri Metropolitan Police have uncovered a drug smuggling operation masterminded by a woman. Undercover cops from the Bhaktinagar police station apprehended a woman, Sona Muni Das (43), a resident of Dinhata, in an operation conducted near the Bhaktinagar traffic guard.


Reportedly, Das had been approached by an individual who offered her Rs. 500 to smuggle cannabis. Acting on this arrangement, she was waiting near the traffic guard to hand over the cannabis to the designated recipient. Upon receiving information about this, the Bhaktinagar police swiftly launched an operation and apprehended the woman. Subsequently, they seized a significant quantity of cannabis in her possession.

According to police sources, a total of 18.1 kilograms of cannabis were recovered from the woman. The accused woman is scheduled to appear in the Jalpaiguri court on Thursday, where legal proceedings will commence. The police are actively investigating the entire incident to ascertain further details and potential connections within the drug smuggling network.
