Siliguri, 29th September: A woman has been arrested after her husband went missing following an alleged assault during a family dispute in Siliguri. The arrested woman has been identified as Sabnam Khatun.
According to police sources, on 27th September 2026, Sabnam Khatun allegedly assaulted her husband, Kamre Alam, along with other family members during a family dispute. Kamre Alam has reportedly been missing since the incident.
A written complaint was lodged at Bhakti Nagar Police Station by Kamre Alam’s family on Monday. The complaint alleges that Sabnam assaulted Kamre Alam and that something happened to him after the assault. His family has expressed suspicion that Sabnam may be connected to his disappearance.
Based on the complaint, Bhakti Nagar Police registered a case under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and launched an investigation. Police also inspected the incident site.
Sabnam Khatun was arrested from an area under Ward No. 40 and produced before the Jalpaiguri court on Tuesday.
Police are continuing their search for Kamre Alam and investigating the matter.
