West Bengal Lockdown: Jalpaiguri under strict police surveillance

Jalpaiguri, 23rd July: In light of the increasing number of COVID-19 cases, a complete lockdown has been imposed this Thursday and Saturday, i.e. on July 23 and July 25, all over the state.


While all shops in Jalpaiguri remained completely shut down, very few people were sighted on the streets, since morning. Strict monitoring is being kept by the police in various parts of the city including Dinbazar, Merchant Road, DBC road, Dinbazar, Beguntari More, Raikot Para More, and Kadamtala More. Barricades were also set up in the important roads to curb traffic.

From 9 am-11 am today, strict surveillance was kept on various parts of the city by a large police force under the leadership of IC Bipul Sinha of Kotwali police station. Several lockdown violators were detained and taken to the police station. The police also publicly punished several breachers on the charge of breaking lockdown and made them do squats and sit-ups in the streets.


However, compared to the previous lockdown, a complete reverse scenario was sighted in Jalpaiguri today. Maximum people were seen following the lockdown protocols properly.
