Rajganj, 20th June: Poor drainage infrastructure has led to severe waterlogging in the Panditer Bari area under Panikauri Gram Panchayat in Belakoba under Rajganj block, with even light rainfall causing knee-deep water accumulation.
Locals alleged that the area has been facing the same problem for years, with no permanent solution despite repeated complaints to the administration and elected representatives. They said that even moderate rainfall leads to waterlogging, and in several instances, water enters homes, severely affecting daily life.
Significantly, the affected area is also where Panikauri Gram Panchayat Pradhan Papiya Sarkar resides, highlighting the extent of the recurring problem.
Residents expressed strong frustration over the lack of proper drainage facilities and alleged administrative negligence behind the continuing crisis.
Speaking on the issue, Panchayat Pradhan Papiya Sarkar said that the Panchayat has limited administrative powers but efforts are being made to resolve the issue. She also acknowledged that she herself is affected, stating that water has entered her residence as well.
She added that steps are being taken to find a permanent solution to the long-standing drainage problem in the area.
