Rajganj, 23rd August: The youths who jumped to rescue a young woman in Fulbari Teesta Canal on Monday were felicitated today by the voluntary organizations of Siliguri.
Reportedly, six youths identified as Bapi Biswas, Ashish Bairagi, Rajesh Mondal, Anand, Bipul, and Basudev of Fulbari were honored with khada, flowers, and sweets by Bhaktinagar Shraddha Welfare Society of Siliguri.
It is to be noted, on Monday night, a girl from Srinagar Colony of Fulbari jumped into Teesta Canal after being cheated on by her lover. After this, some youths saw the girl flowing in the said canal in the Murder More area. After which the youths of the area got down in Teesta Canal and rescued the young woman from taking her own life and then took her to a private hospital in Fulbari.
In this regard, the secretary of Bhaktinagar Shraddha Welfare Society, Pooja Mukhtar praised their bravery and heroism. And for saving the life of the girl without thinking twice about putting their lives at risk. She added that on behalf of the organization she salutes them for their valiance.
