Siliguri, 23rd June: Urban Health Centre workers on Tuesday submitted a memorandum to the Chief Medical Officer of Health (CMOH) in Siliguri, claiming that they have been excluded from the salary hike announced for employees of various government departments in the State Budget.
The employees gathered at the Mahakuma Parishad office and said they had earlier been assured that their salaries would be increased. However, they alleged that Urban Health Centre workers were not even mentioned in the recently announced budget.
Expressing their dissatisfaction, the workers pointed out that while ASHA workers have received a salary hike, no decision has been taken regarding the salaries of Urban Health Centre employees. In protest against the issue, programmes were organised across the state on Tuesday.
The workers also warned that they may resort to a work boycott in the coming days if their demands are not addressed.
