Unhygienic conditions found at sweet shop in Siliguri’s Pradhan Nagar area

Siliguri, 07th September: The Food Safety Department and Siliguri Municipal Corporation conducted an inspection at a sweet shop in the Pradhan Nagar area on Monday following complaints of unhygienic conditions. Several irregularities were found during the inspection.

During the inspection, officials found food items being prepared and stored in highly unhygienic conditions inside the shop. Food items were also found stored in plastic containers. Most concerningly, several cockroaches were found in the syrup used for sweets.

Officials stated that although the shop authorities were able to produce some documents, they failed to provide a satisfactory explanation regarding the standards of the premises and hygiene-related requirements.

Following the inspection, the Siliguri Municipal Corporation and Food Safety Department directed the authorities to submit all necessary documents to the municipal corporation by Tuesday.

Officials warned that strict action may be taken if the required documents are not produced within the stipulated time.
