Three arrested in Scooty theft case in Siliguri, stolen two-wheeler recovered

Siliguri, 07th September: Three persons have been arrested by the plainclothes police of Pradhan Nagar Police Station in connection with a scooty theft case. The arrested accused have been identified as Salman Ali alias Rohit Prasad (21), Safiyar Rahman (46) and MD Hanif (34). Police have also recovered the stolen two-wheeler.

According to police sources, a complaint was lodged at Pradhan Nagar Police Station after a scooty was stolen from Lane No. 4 of Baghajatin Colony on the evening of September 4.

During the investigation, police received information that Salman Ali, a previously wanted accused, had been seen with the stolen scooty. Based on the information, police detained Salman from a tea garden area near Pokhai Jote and questioned him. During interrogation, he allegedly confessed to stealing the scooty.

Salman reportedly told police that he had sold the stolen scooty to Safiyar Rahman, a resident of Salbari, for around Rs 7,000. Police subsequently conducted a raid in Salbari and arrested Safiyar.

During questioning, Safiyar allegedly told police that he had sold the scooty to MD Hanif, also a resident of Salbari, for around Rs 10,000. Police then raided Hanif’s residence, recovered the stolen scooty and arrested him.

All three arrested accused were produced before the Siliguri Court on Monday. Police are continuing their investigation into the case.
