Two youths arrested in priest’s murder case in Ambari

Rajganj, 01st October: Two youths have been arrested on the charge of murdering a priest of a temple in Ambari, on Thursday night. The arrested accused have been identified as Uttam Roy (21) and Vikram Bhowmik (19). The duo was arrested from Haricharanvita and Gokulvita of Ambari. They were produced at Jalpaiguri court on Friday.


OC of Ambari outpost Sajal Roy said that the accused individuals were arrested on Thursday night. During interrogation, they confessed that they often used to visit the temple and indulge in alcohol. On the night of the incident, they got into a scuffle with the priest Prahlad Sarkar. When the argument escalated, the duo attacked the priest and killed him.

Sarkar’s body was recovered from Satsanga Dham of Sri Sri Ma Ganga Mandir in the Ambari barrage area ​​on September 13 evening. The family then lodged a complaint at the Ambari police outpost alleging murder. Police launched investigations and arrested the duo.
