Siliguri, 10th September: An elderly man was allegedly tied up and attacked in an alleged attempt to kill him after two women visited his home in Siliguri’s Aurobindo Pally to see a room available for rent. The incident has caused panic in the area.
The elderly man has been identified as Ram Ratan Dhar. According to reports, Dhar was showing a room for rent at his residence in Aurobindo Pally. On Wednesday night, two women allegedly visited his house on the pretext of viewing the room.
The two women allegedly went upstairs to see the room, where they attacked Dhar. It is alleged that they wrapped a cloth around his face in an attempt to silence him and subsequently attacked him with a knife.
The incident came to light in the locality shortly afterwards, following which police were informed. Siliguri Police reached the spot after receiving the complaint and initiated an investigation.
A CCTV footage has reportedly emerged as part of the investigation. A CCTV camera installed at a house opposite Dhar’s residence allegedly captured the two women entering the house.
Dhar’s daughter-in-law said that she and her father-in-law are the only two people living at the house. She said she went to a temple and was informed by local residents about the incident. Local residents subsequently took Dhar to a hospital.
