Two arrested on charges of smuggling cannabis in Siliguri

Siliguri, 08th April: In a significant breakthrough, the NJP police have apprehended two youths on charges of smuggling cannabis in Siliguri. The arrested accused have been identified as Tapas Barman and Pradip Modak, both residents of Cooch Behar.


According to reports, on Sunday night, the NJP police received tip-off information regarding two individuals arriving at Siliguri from Dinhata in Cooch Behar with substantial quantity of cannabis. Subsequently, the police launched an operation and apprehended the youths at Noukaghat More.

Upon initiating a search, about 4 kg of cannabis were recovered from two bags which prompted their arrest. On Monday, both the accused have been produced before the Jalpaiguri Court, while further investigation is currently underway.
