Two arrested including a young woman by Matigara Police for obstructing police while arresting notorious criminal

Siliguri, 18th September: A young woman and a person have been arrested by the Matigara police station on charges of obstructing and attacking the police while they were apprehending a notorious criminal. The accused have been identified as Mosina Khatun (19) and MD Noor Basak (22), residents of Biswas Colony in Matigara.


Reportedly, on the basis of the information from a tip-off, the police of Matigara police station went undercover on September 8, to apprehend a notorious criminal MD Ekram. During the arrest, a group of locals besieged the police. When the police went ahead to arrest Ekram, his wife allegedly bit the arm of police officer Uday Chakraborty, sustaining serious injury. Later a huge Police force reached the spot to nab the accused and apprehended him. At the same time, Uday Chakraborty was rushed to the hospital to receive first aid.

Mosina Khatun and MD Noor Basak have been produced in court today. The court has directed to keep both of the accused under judicial custody for 14 days.
