Siliguri, 06th November: An illegal call center operating in Webel IT Park, Phase-1, under the jurisdiction of Matigara police station, has been exposed, leading to the arrest of two managers. The arrested individuals have been identified as Ansar Ali (42) of South 24 Parganas and Saurabh Sahu (25) of Pradhan Nagar area.
Reportedly, the operation was carried out on Tuesday after receiving a tip-off. The Special Operation Group (SOG) and undercover officers from the Matigara police station raided the office located on the first floor of Webel IT Park, Phase-1.
The raid, which lasted around 7 hours, resulted in the seizure of several computers, CPUs, and documents from the illegal call center.
The two accused were taken into custody and presented in Siliguri court on Wednesday. The illegal call center, operating under the name Unique Trade, was found to have been scamming people by making calls abroad.
It is to be noted that this is not the first instance of an illegal call center being exposed at Webel IT Park. Earlier, both the SOG and Matigara police had uncovered similar operations at the same location.
