Kalchini, 17th March: Tragedy struck in Kalchini’s Garopara area late Thursday night after an accident claimed the life of a railway worker while injuring two.
Reportedly, on Thursday night, a railway worker Prakash Tirkey was returning home by bike after his duty. He had two friends on the bike along with him. While on their way, the bike head-on collided with a vehicle in the Garopara area. The deadly collision left three people riding on the said bike injured.
After the incident, local police and Kalchini police rescued three people and took them to Latabari hospital, where Prakash Tirkey was declared brought dead by the doctors. The remaining two are undergoing treatment. Police recovered the body and sent it to Alipurduar District Hospital for postmortem. The police are probing the entire incident.
