Traffic movement commences on newly-constructed Weather bridge over Balasan river

Siliguri, 16th December: Under administrative supervision, vehicles have started plying from today on the newly constructed Weather bridge in Matigara.

It has been learned that the length of the Weather Bridge is approximately 44 meters. Meanwhile, a path of around 200 meters has also been prepared to cross the bridge. A total of 70 lakh rupees was used for the construction work.

Currently, work is underway to lay bitumen on the bridge and road. Some restrictions have also been imposed by the administration. For example, freight trucks, large buses traveling outside the state, and e-rickshaws are completely banned from plying on the bridge. Strong traffic police arrangements have been levied to control movement over the bridge. Meanwhile, guard walls are also being installed on both sides of the bridge from a security point of view. As of now, the bridge has been made one way.

Meanwhile, with the completion of the Weather Bridge, the pressure on Bailey Bridge will reduce and people will be relieved from traffic congestion to some extent.
