Siliguri, 10th September: The traffic booth of the Bhakti Nagar Traffic Guard has been renovated to make traffic management and vehicle movement control in Siliguri more effective.
The renovated traffic booth was inaugurated on Thursday by school students at Biswanath Singh More in Shahid Nagar, near Indira Gandhi Maidan. The inauguration ceremony was attended by DCP (Traffic) Quazi Samsuddin Ahamed, ACP Traffic Subir Dutta, Bhakti Nagar Traffic Guard OC Amartya Chakraborty and other officials of the traffic department.
At the beginning of the programme, senior traffic police officials present at the event were felicitated. The renovated traffic booth was then inaugurated by school students by cutting a ribbon.
The newly renovated traffic booth has two rooms and a toilet facility. It is the first traffic booth in Siliguri city among the existing traffic booths to have a toilet facility.
The facility is expected to particularly benefit female traffic personnel, along with male traffic personnel. The traffic department hopes that the new booth will help make traffic control and management in the area more organised and effective.
