Siliguri, 06th January: An E-rickshaw (Toto) driver has been arrested by the Pradhan Nagar Police for molesting a woman. The accused Toto driver has been identified as Apu Siddhi (20), a resident of Salbari Naya Basti in Siliguri.
According to information, the victim is a resident of Mirik. She was living in Siliguri for the last three years. She was traveling to her relative’s house in Sukna in a Toto, on Sunday night. The accused Toto driver tried to molest her in an empty area enclosed to the Salbari market. Upon hearing the girl’s screams, the local people came to the rescue and the accused was beaten fiercely. The local people handed over the accused to the Police.
The Police presented the accused in the Siliguri court and the victim has been sent to the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital for medical examination. A complaint has also been lodged at the Pradhan Nagar Police station.
