Siliguri, 12th October: CPI(M)’s 24th branch in Siliguri staged a protest outside the office of the Additional Divisional Railway Manager (ADRM), demanding the immediate reopening of the Fuleswari railway gate.
The organisation alleged that the closure without adequate alternative arrangements has caused significant inconvenience to local residents and daily commuters. People are reportedly being forced to take longer routes to reach their destinations, resulting in additional travel time and increased traffic congestion.
The closure has also affected businesses in the Fuleswari area. Local traders have expressed concern over financial losses during the festive season, claiming that difficulties in accessing the area are disrupting business activities and affecting sales.
CPI(M) has urged the railway authorities to address the concerns of residents, commuters and traders by reopening the Fuleswari railway gate at the earliest. The organisation has also sought clarification on the reasons behind the closure.
