TMC staged a road blockade in Rajganj demanding repair of road

Rajganj, 02nd December: TMC activists staged a road blockade in Jatiyakali More demanding repair of the National Highway.

The party workers alleged that the construction work of the four-lane road from Rajganj Jatiyakali More to Fulbari has been discontinued for the past one year. Due to the dilapidated condition of the road, the common people are facing several difficulties and traffic movement has become challenging. Accidents are also on the rise.

Debashish Pramanik, Trinamool Block president of Dabgram Fulbari assembly constituency, said that construction of a four-lane highway from Jatiyakali More to Alipurduar is underway. However, no construction work is being carried out at the 4-km road from Fulbari to Jatiyakali.

Earlier too, road blockades were staged demanding speedy completion of the work. Highway authorities have also been informed regarding the matter, but no solution was provided. Hence, they staged a road blockade and warned of staging larger demonstrations if their demands are not met soon.

Later, the blockade was lifted by the organization after receiving assurances from the highway authorities.
