SMC examines legality of rooftop conference hall at Hotel Dolly Inn in Siliguri

Siliguri, 05th September: A conference hall on the rooftop of Hotel Dolly Inn on Bidhan Road is under scanner as the Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC) examines whether it was constructed without an approved plan.

On Saturday, the Siliguri Municipal Corporation, Food Safety Department and the Enforcement Branch conducted an inspection at Hotel Dolly Inn. During the inspection, officials noticed the conference hall constructed on the hotel rooftop.

According to the allegations, the construction was carried out without approval from the SMC. SMC Commissioner Bir Bikram Rai spoke with the hotel management regarding the matter and said that the authorities were examining whether the construction had been carried out in accordance with the rules.

Rai said that if the construction is found to be in violation of the rules, necessary action will be taken following all legal procedures. He added that steps would also be taken to demolish the unauthorised construction if it is established as illegal.

Meanwhile, the Food Safety Department also conducted an inspection at the hotel. During the inspection, several expired items were recovered and seized by the department.
