Theft on the rise in Siliguri: Miscreants strike vacant residence

Siliguri, 30th October: The rising number of theft cases is a growing concern in Siliguri. In a recent case, a few unidentified miscreants targeted a vacant residence located in the Saheed Mangal Pandey Sarani of Purba Vivekananda Pally under Ward No. 15 of Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC).


According to reports, the house owner resides in Kolkata with his family. As a result, the house had been vacant for a considerable period of time. The thieves took advantage of the situation and robbed the house of every valuable item for three consecutive days.

The local residents reported that about two days prior, two suspicious individuals were spotted fleeing the residence. Subsequently, the Panitanki Outpost was notified of the incident. The police immediately initiated an investigation into the incident. Following this, a night watchman was assigned to watch over the residence. However, the next time the theft was carried out in broad daylight.


On Monday evening, the locals noticed that the lights of the residence were turned on. The police were immediately alerted of the incident. Upon arriving at the scene, the police officials discovered that all of the household items were scattered and the window grills were cut open. Speculations indicate that several valuables have been stolen from the residence. The incident has been reported to the house owner. Meanwhile, the police are engaged in probing the entire incident.
