Theft in Kali temple of a residence in Siliguri, two arrested

Siliguri, 07th February: In a significant breakthrough, the cops of the Pradhan Nagar police station arrested two individuals in connection to a case of theft of gold jewellery from the Kali temple of a residence in Siliguri. The arrested accused are Vijay Mahato and Pradeep Soni, a businessman dealing with gold.


As per reports, on Tuesday morning, the Kali temple of a house owned by Govinda Sarkar, a resident of the Samar Nagar area of Siliguri’s Ward No. 46, was looted. Subsequently, the house owner filed a written complaint of theft at the Pradhan Nagar police station.

Based on the complaint, the police initiated an investigation and arrested Vijay Mahato from the Prakash Nagar area. Upon interrogation of the arrested accused, the name of the gold businessman Pradeep Soni came to the fore, which prompted his arrest. However, the stolen gold jewellery has not been recovered.


On Wednesday, the police of Pradhan Nagar police station produced both the accused before the Siliguri court and took them on remand.
