Stolen vehicle recovered during naka checking in Siliguri, one arrested

Siliguri, 05th February: In a recent development, the cops of Matigara police station of the Siliguri Metropolitan Police recovered a stolen vehicle after a month. Sources revealed that the vehicle (Tata Sumo) was being transported to Ramganj when it was apprehended by the police during checking in Siliguri. In addition, an individual, identified as Raja Sharma was arrested in connection to the theft.


As per information, on January 8, Pranay Prakash Dewan’s vehicle was stolen from the residence of his driver Tej Bahadur Gurung. The following day, the owner filed a written complaint at the Matigara police station. Based on the complaint, the police initiated an investigation; however, the vehicle could not be traced for almost a month

Meanwhile, on Sunday night, the police were engaged in naka checking for enhanced security in the Chathat area under the Medical Outpost. During the checking, the police halted a vehicle based on suspicion and checked the documents. During this, the police learned that the stolen Tata Sumo was being transported to Ramganj for sale.


Subsequently, the police took the vehicle into custody and arrested the driver. On Monday, the police registered a case of theft and presented the accused in the Siliguri court, while further investigations are underway.
