SOG and Matigara Police nab three with cash and brown sugar

Siliguri, 16th September: The Special Operation Group (SOG) of the Siliguri Metropolitan Police and the police of Matigara police station, in a joint operation, unveiled a major drug racket. During the campaign, the team arrested three smugglers with one kilogram of brown sugar and cash worth Rs 7.45 lakh. The arrested have been identified as Vishal Mandal, Manik Mandal and Manu Lal. All are residents of Kaliachak in Malda.


According to the information, the SOG and Matigara Police, acting on a tip-off, apprehended a white colored freighter pickup (WB 65 C 9327) near the National Highway. During the search, drugs and a bag filled with cash were recovered from the van. Following this, legal procedures were carried out in the presence of Deputy Magistrate Manish Yadav and the three men travelling in the van were arrested. All were produced in the Siliguri court today.
